Insurance

Insurance operations break generic software. Agent licensing, carrier integrations, hierarchy-driven compensation, state-by-state compliance... the complexity compounds fast and the margin for error is low. We've worked across the spectrum and know the edge cases, the integration nightmares, and the compliance traps — because we've already solved them.

Insurance

Insurance operations break generic software fast. Agent licensing hierarchies, carrier integrations, state-by-state compliance, commission structures that cascade across multiple levels of a producer network — the complexity compounds quickly, and the margin for error is low. We've worked across the full spectrum: Medicare distribution networks, captive insurance structures, life insurance brokerages, MGAs, trucking insurance, and digital-first insurtech platforms. The problems change shape. The stakes don't.

Hierarchy and compliance at scale

Insurance distribution networks are defined by hierarchy — who sits above whom, who can see what, and who is legally permitted to sell what in which state. When those hierarchies are managed in an external system and change frequently, keeping Salesforce in sync isn't a data problem. It's a compliance problem.

For a large Medicare IMO with a multi-level agency and agent network, we built a hierarchy synchronization system that kept Salesforce current with their internal records — ensuring agents accessing the support portal saw only the data they were legally entitled to see. When an agent moves out of an agency's downline, that access closes. No manual intervention, no grace period.

For a Medicare call center operation, we built licensing-aware call routing through Five9 — ensuring inbound calls were directed only to agents with the appropriate state licensure and language certifications. A configurable compliance timer on each lead turned yellow, then red, at thresholds set for compliant call duration. The Sunfire integration handled real-time Medicare enrollment submission. Compliance wasn't a policy. It was engineered into every step.

When the spreadsheet is the system

Captive insurance structures pool risk across member companies — premiums in, claims and unused premium distributions out — with the pool composition adjusted each year. For one captive insurer, that annual process lived almost entirely in spreadsheets. The year-end payout calculations took one person three to four weeks. Each individual claim required hours of manual calculation before the handler could close it.

We built the data model to store captive pool configurations year-over-year, automated the claim allocation logic, and replaced the annual payout process with a system that ran the calculations automatically. The math didn't change. The people doing it by hand were freed to do something else.

Commission complexity and policy management

Insurance commissions are some of the most complex compensation structures in any industry — multi-level, product-specific, subject to regulatory constraints, and dependent on policy status changes that can trigger clawbacks or adjustments. We've built commission integrations across multiple engagements: for a full-service trucking MGA where we handled policy management, producer portal, and commission tracking end to end, and for a life insurance company integrating with a proprietary finance application for commission calculations.

For a digital-first real estate insurtech platform, we integrated an existing client onboarding flow into Salesforce Financial Services Cloud — modernizing the back-office infrastructure without disrupting the front-end experience their landlord clients already knew.

Custom quoting and carrier integrations

Quoting in insurance is only straightforward until it isn't. For a digital life insurance platform, we built a custom quoting module that called the parent carrier's API in real time — pulling rates, running qualification logic, and generating quotes inside Salesforce without manual data re-entry.

For a premium finance and life insurance brokerage selling complex products to high-net-worth clients, we automated the full sales workflow through Financial Services Cloud: from initial engagement through support team assembly, brochure generation, manager approval, client back-and-forth, and final execution — with timing enforcement and escalation at every step. Deals of that size don't tolerate bottlenecks.
