Salesforce file storage ain't cheap. Mass-generating another ~160 GB of PDFs was the easy part. Doing it as the company closed in on their storage limit was the real challenge.
Great timing.
So we innovated our way out of it. A systematic batch process moved a buttload (tech jargon) of content off the platform, paired with a shadow structure mirroring the Content Document / Content Version / Content Document Link relationships. Our custom file management interface kept retrieving everything exactly as before.
The end users were none the wiser, even though most of what they opened now lived somewhere else entirely.
