Planning a Sexit? Headless 360 just handed you the architecture
If you've been considering a Salesforce Exit (dare I say Sexit?), Salesforce just handed you a lower risk strategy to get there with Headless 360.
Announced yesterday at TDX 2026, the pitch is flexibility. Decouple the experience layer from the platform. Build React front ends. Use MCP to talk to the backend. The unintended consequence? They've just given you the architecture for a migration plan.
Salesforce's strongest lock-in was the monumental task of recreating UI, business logic, data model, and security in one fell swoop to leave. That is organizational transformation, not just an engineering project. Now Salesforce is telling you to put a React app in front of everything and talk to the platform through APIs. Instead of page layouts driven by the database model, you get to shape the front end around your business and workflows: hoorah.
Once that abstraction exists, you've created a separation point for an incremental migration. You could do a similar cutover for just security- swapping the Salesforce user authentication for an integration user with the data permissions handled elsewhere. Codality has implemented this data security layer for a mobile app that used Salesforce as a backend, by the by. Another post coming soon with an overview since that just became doubly relevant.
Rebuild backend services one domain at a time, without a big bang cutover that terrifies executives and software developers alike. The process still isn't trivial, but the path out is now much less daunting with Headless 360 handing you tools to decouple the UI.
I don't see Headless 360 as much of a selling point for new customers. The Salesforce backend is inherently difficult and limiting for developers because of the proprietary logic and (now frankly antiquated) multi-tenant governance that allowed Salesforce to be a low-code solution. I do see many use cases for Headless 360 beyond a Salesforce exit for existing customers, but it tickle me that it's also a handy tool for an org looking to extricate themselves.
If you've followed my posts, you know I've been helping organizations evaluate whether Salesforce is still the right fit. Salesforce just made that conversation easier to act on.
Let's talk about what your Sexit strategy looks like. ๐ฌ
